The film Mission Raniganj is based on the true story of the Raniganj Coalfields collapse of 1989, which occurred in West Bengal, India. On November 13, 1989, a major cave-in occurred at the Mahabir Colliery, trapping 65 miners underground.

Akshay Kumar is palying the main Lead role in this survival film, “Mission Raniganj. The film is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the film will also star Parineeti Chopra. Akshay Kumar plays the role of the courageous Jaswant Singh Gill who saved many miners after the collapse.

Jaswant Singh Gill, a mining engineer with Coal India Limited, was tasked with leading the rescue operation. Gill faced many challenges, including unstable mine conditions, limited resources, and a ticking clock. However, he was determined to save the miners, and he developed a daring rescue plan.

Gill and his team used a specially designed capsule to descend into the mine shaft and reach the trapped miners. The capsule was cramped and uncomfortable, and the miners had to endure difficult conditions while they were being rescued. However, Gill and his team worked tirelessly, and they were able to rescue all 65 miners alive.

Gill's heroic rescue operation was hailed as a miracle, and he was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor. He is considered to be one of the greatest mining engineers in Indian history.
