Veteran actor Rio Kapadia died on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer this afternoon, his friend Faisal Malik said.
Kapadia was known for his roles in films such as "Chak De! India", "Dil Chahta Hai", "Happy New Year", and "Mardaani". He also appeared in several television shows, including "Made in Heaven" and "Kaun Banega Crorepati".
Kapadia's death was mourned by many in the film and television industry. Director Shimit Amin, who worked with Kapadia in "Chak De! India", said that he was "a wonderful actor and a great human being". Actor Akshay Kumar, who co-starred with Kapadia in "Happy New Year", said that he was "deeply saddened" by the news.
Kapadia's funeral will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023.
